Follow Tor on his first BazePort IPTV install

Tor Oveland Vimme recently joined Baze as one of our new Sales Trainees. Part of his training is participating in all of Baze's different departments. Last week he joined our experienced Delivery team. He participated in the commissioning of BazePort IPTV on Stena Lines's latest edition to their fleet, the Stena Estelle at Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk, Poland.

Tor graduated from the University of Agder in Norway this spring with a Master's degree in Business and Administration. During the following year, he will be educated in all there is to know about BazePort by interning in all our departments. He will then become a Business Development Manager in our sales team.

Installation on new E-flexer Stena Estelle

The new vessel is the most modern in Stena Line's fleet. Stena Estelle and sister ship Stena Ebba are the two largest E-Flexer ferries ever built. Stena Ebba is already equipped with a complete BazePort IPTV system, and it was Stena Estelle's turn last week. The vessel is 240 meters long with 263 cabins and a capacity of 1200 passengers.

Baze’s Delivery team of four worked for five days to install 373 BazePort smart-TV sets, the network for it and commission the IPTV system. When Stena Estelle starts operation on her route from Gdynia to Karlskrona in September, all passengers can watch TV in their cabins or enjoy a movie in the vessels movie lounge, plus many other features. BazePort IPTV is also used for passenger information and executing safety movies.

- I got to participate in the entire process, installing BazePort set-top boxes in the passenger cabins and Smart TVs in the suites, ensuring that all was working correctly and the network was performing as expected. Seeing the immediate effect of the work and how it all came together was great fun, says Tor.

Hands-on training in the delivery process of BazePort is a great way to learn and fully understand the product, its capabilities and our client's use of the IPTV system.

A learning experience

The extended working days flew by during the commissioning. - It was a learning experience and very helpful to understand how all components work together and how we deliver the products, he continues.

Being Baze's first trainee out, we had to ask him his best advice for the next trainee. The answer was clear:
Never say no to a challenge!
