BazePort Flow was introduced in BazePort 8. Have you tested it yet?
Flow automates repetitive and mundane tasks. It’s easy to use and is prepared in just 3 steps: 1: Name the flow, 2: Select triggers, and 3: Decide on actions. We are now launching new features in Flow!
NEW FLOW ACTION: Message with variables
BazePort introduces the possibility to trigger a message with variables from a BazePort Dashboard. In BazePort 8 we introduced BazePort Flow with dashboard as trigger. It enabled you to trigger actions from a button in a dashboard. You could prepare a flow with dashboard as trigger, predefine a message, and then just click the button to send the message to predefined receivers. That’s great, but let’s say you need to personalize the message and choose the receivers before you send it – from within the dashboard. Then you need variables and you can trigger a message that you prepare “on the fly”.
Let’s look back at the BazePort 8 release. Do you remember the webhook trigger? With this we first introduced messages with variables. The message text and the receivers of the message was input from a third-party system. This enabled automation of messages, like a personal welcome message on a viewer’s TV screen triggered by entries in another system.
This new functionality is similar, but you set values to the variables from within the dashboard instead of in a third-party webhook integration.
NEW FLOW TRIGGER: “First time use”
A flow needs a trigger to start the chain of actions in the flow. We have now added a new trigger: First time use.
The trigger will make an action (or chain of actions) mandatory before the viewer can start to use the TV for the first time. This is what you need if you want your guests to view a security, promotional, informational video before they can start to use to TV.
Please note that this trigger is closely connected to check-out functionality. First time use can be run after a TV set-top box has been checked out, and is in “first time mode”.
NEW FLOW ACTION SET FEATURE
The "Wake up receivers before start" feature in flow’s action sets is the possibility to automatically wake up unit if it is in standby. It is very useful if you need to force information to the TVs and you want to make sure that you reach the TVs that may be in standby state. It was possible to wake up units in BazePort 8, too, but is now available directly in the action set dialog box and, thus, much easier to remember and to use.
