Bazeport's new features, such as Digital Signage and streaming through apps, require the use of the Android operating system (AOSP). Fortunately, both the current Bazeport set-top box, CT-2211*, and the previous model, CT-2191*, are compatible with this new OS. We have even developed a method to upgrade a set-top box that is running in an existing Bazeport environment to make the shift from Linux to Android on the fly.  

A Bazeport set-top box that is to be used for digital signage purposes or make use of streaming apps must be configured to run the Android OS.  

In a Bazeport system setup, you are free to combine the use of both Linux and Android set-top boxes.

* Please carefully note: 
The following functionality, currently available on CT-2211 and CT-2191 that are running Linux, are not available when/if converted to the use of Android:  
- Wifi tethering 
- Use of legacy remote controls  
- 802.1x 
- Bluetooth headphones 
- RTSP support (used by certain CCTV) 
- Multicast Widevineencryption 
- Pro:Idiom encryption 
- IR-dongle 
- USB support (playback from USB) 
- Remote suspend 

Please note that this list of exemptions may change. 

Bazeport won’t upgrade any set-top boxes from Linux to Android without the consent of its owner. Please get in touch with support or your designated contact with Bazeport for more details.
